Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz County

Volunteering

Native Animal Rescue (NAR) has many volunteer opportunities for you. There is an ongoing need for volunteers as they are the backbone of our organization. From animal care, to helping with the laundry, answering the telephone and driving, volunteers keep Native Animal Rescue and our wildlife alive!

Once a year, in the Spring, NAR hosts a volunteer training session approved by the Dept. of Fish and Game.  Class attendance is required in order to be a volunteer at NAR. Please call NAR at (831) 462-0726 in late March to find out the date for the volunteer training.

NAR gets many requests from children who want to work directly with the animals. Children under 18 years old must be accompanied at all times by an adult who has attended a NAR training session.

Currently, there is an" URGENT " need for help with raccoon rehabilitation. NAR is looking for volunteers to help care for infant and/or juvenile raccoons as well as searching for outside raccoon rehabilitation and release sites. All interested volunteers will be trained in raccoon rehabilitation. Food, aviaries and veterinary care are provided. For more information on how you can help with the raccoons, please contact Vikki at: vikkiskrupp@yahoo.com (or call NAR at (831) 462-0726).
