Foxes and Coyotes
There are certain wild animals that should only be handled by trained individuals. As tempting as it is to rescue a fox or coyote pup, you will likely do more harm than good. They are not dogs; they are not pet material. If the pups are handled or kept for any length of time, it is extremely difficult to prepare them to be released back to the wild.
What to do if you find…
Baby Fox or Coyote1. Do not handle, feed, or transport the fox or coyote. 2. Contact Native Animal Rescue at 831-462-0726. 3. If you are unable to contact Native Animal Rescue, call Santa Cruz County Animal Services at 831-454-7200. After hours call 831-471-1182.
